Another one off Alpher's Yorkshire bench, and this Mako Prime V2 is the passive, no-nonsense side of the range. One-piece alder body, quartersawn roasted maple neck, figured ebony board, and a Gloss Blue Metallic finish with cream aluminium guards that looks even better in person.

The electronics are refreshingly simple: two Nordstrand hum-cancelling 51P pickups running passive, with volume, volume, tone. No preamp, no menu diving, just plug in and go. Jescar 47095 frets, Graphtech nut, Hipshot Kickass bridge and Ultralite tuners round it out, and at 3.76 kg it stays light on the strap through a long set. Ships in an Alpher-branded Hiscox hard case.
